Michael Carrick says Benjamin Sesko was taken off at half-time of the win over Liverpool because of a shin problem.

The striker scored his side’s second of the game before Liverpool made it 2-2 in the second half, with Kobbie Mainoo then scoring a late winner to secure Champions League football for United.

“He got a bang on his shin when he fell down the side of the pitch,” the United boss explained to  MUTV .

“It’s something that he’s been carrying for a little bit as well, so we’ve had to manage him a bit but he’s certainly had a bang right on the same spot.

“It’s as simple as that really.”
