INDEPENDENCE — Cavaliers wing Jaylon Tyson has been trying to brace his younger brother for the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine spotlight.

Jordyn Tyson is a wide receiver who played the past three seasons at Arizona State after starting his college football career at Colorado. He is widely projected by analysts to become a first-round pick in April's draft, and the combine Feb. 23-March 2 in Indianapolis will be an important part of his journey.

"The more and more it gets closer, I keep asking him, 'Are you ready?'" Jaylon Tyson said Feb. 18 after Cavs practice at Cleveland Clinic Courts. "I don't think he understands life's about to change, but he's ready. He's in a good mind space, right? He would love to be here [in Cleveland playing for the Browns ]. I know that, but wherever he goes, he's excited for the opportunity. I feel like he's going to take advantage of the opportunity as soon as he gets it."

Drafted by the Cavs in the first round (No. 20 overall) in 2024, Jaylon Tyson has some combine advice for Jordyn Tyson, who compiled 75 catches for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2024 and 61 catches for 711 yards and eight TDs in 2025.

The NBA and NFL pre-draft processes share some similarities.

"When it comes to the interviews [with teams], I told him, 'Be yourself. They want to know who you are. Don't try to be somebody you're not because 99% of the questions they ask you, they already know the answers to, so don't go in there and try to be somebody else. Be you. You're special as a human being, so just go do that, and they're going to love you,'" Jaylon Tyson said.

Cleveland Cavaliers second-year player Jaylon Tyson (right) and his NFL prospect brother Jordyn Tyson, a wide receiver for Arizona State football.

Jaylon Tyson said he played football in middle school (he was also a wide receiver) before shifting his focus to basketball. His older brother, Berron Tyson, played football at South Alabama, and their father, John Tyson, played football at Florida A&M.

"The football family, definitely I was the first to do everything, so I say it's a basketball family," Jaylon Tyson said. "But, yeah, I mean, growing up, it was definitely a physical, physical environment for both me and my [younger] brother and my oldest brother. A lot of fights growing up, but, you know, I think it made us tough on the court and on the field, so it's not much that we can't handle."

Cavs injury news: Cavaliers preparing for Evan Mobley's return and fit with James Harden

The 23-year-old Jaylon Tyson has provided the Cavs with an edge, a trait he has used well amid his breakout season. He has started 35 of the 50 games in which he's appeared in 2025-26, averaging 13.9 points on 51.4% shooting from the field (47.5% on 3-pointers), 5.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 27.8 minutes.

"He plays one way — he plays hard," Cavs All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell said.

Jaylon Tyson's second-season production earned him an appearance in the Rising Stars showcase on Feb. 13 during NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles. He led Team T-Mac with 10 points and five rebounds.

"It was cool sharing the court with those guys," Jaylon Tyson said. "In the back of my mind, I know I'm better than a lot of those guys, if not all of them, right? I just want to go out there and prove that every single day, and then hopefully be an All-Star one day."

Arizona State football coach Kenny Dillingham, center, talks with former Arizona State basketball guard James Harden, left, and wide receiver Jordyn Tyson during a game Jan. 31, 2026, in Tempe, Arizona.

If the 21-year-old Jordyn Tyson is as confident as Jaylon Tyson, it should serve him well in the NFL. The Athletic draft analyst Dane Brugler placed Jordyn Tyson at No. 12 on his top-100 list of prospects .

The Browns desperately need help in their receiving corps, so they're expected to be among the teams trying to get to know Jordyn Tyson at the combine.
