- CC Sabathia celebrates Milwaukee Brewers’ first World Series Championship
CC Sabathia's stint with the Milwaukee Brewers may have been brief, but the bond he built with the franchise has clearly endured. Following Milwaukee's 4-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 5 on Wednesday, which secured the World Series title in five games, Sabathia was quick to celebrate the Brewers' historic accomplishment.
Sabathia took to social media to celebrate Milwaukee's championship, sharing a heartfelt congratulatory message for the team. The former Brewers pitcher recognized a historic achievement that will forever be part of the franchise's legacy in Major League Baseball.

"World Series Champions for the first time ever!! Soak it all in Milwaukee!!!" wrote the former Brewers star.
Sabathia eventually lifted the World Series trophy with the Yankees in 2009, but his time in Milwaukee ended without a championship opportunity. During his only season with the Brewers in 2008, the team was eliminated by Philadelphia in the National League Division Series. The Phillies continued their run all the way to the title, leaving Sabathia and Milwaukee on the outside looking in.

The former MLB star made an immediate impact after Milwaukee acquired him from the Cleveland Guardians, then known as the Indians. He started 17 games for the Brewers, posting a remarkable 1.65 ERA over 130.2 innings. His outstanding performances helped Milwaukee secure a National League Wild Card berth and return to the postseason.

Despite his dominant regular season with Milwaukee , Sabathia struggled in his only playoff outing for the team. Philadelphia's hitters tagged him for five earned runs in just 3.2 innings, handing the Brewers a 5-2 defeat and putting them in a difficult position in the series.

Sabathia's contributions to Milwaukee left a lasting impression, earning him a place on the Brewers' Wall of Honor earlier this year. He departed for the Yankees in free agency, signing a seven year, $161 million deal before capturing the only World Series championship of his career in New York.
Eighteen years after his brief stint with Milwaukee, Sabathia finally got to witness the franchise reach the summit of baseball.
