The Detroit Lions picked up a 17-13 preseason win over the Washington Commanders on Saturday, as Dan Campbell's squad put together a solid outing to bounce back from a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the preseason opener.
Detroit has been able to stay mostly healthy throughout the preseason, but there have still been a few injuries to players on the roster bubble , including wide receiver Cedrick Wilson Jr. The 30-year-old left Saturday's contest early with a knee injury, and Campbell stated after the game that the injury worries him.
I don't know for sure, but I'm worried," Campbell said when asked about the severity of Wilson's injury. "
If Wilson is out for an extended period, the Lions' roster picture at receiver is going to look a lot different during the final week of training camp.
How Cedrick Wilson Jr's Knee Injury Affects Lions' Receiver Room

Detroit Lions wide receiver Cedrick Wilson Jr. (86) practices during training camp at Meijer Performance Center in Allen Park on Monday, August 10, 2026.
With Amon-Ra St. Brown , Jameson Williams , Isaac TeSlaa , and Greg Dortch all roster locks, Wilson was one of the top contenders for the No. 5 spot in Detroit's receiver room, which could end up being the final player the Lions take in the position group. Under Campbell, the Lions usually take five or six receivers on the active roster entering Week 1.
However, if Wilson is unable to return from his knee injury, it's basically a completely different competition in the receiver room. Dominic Lovett , Tom Kennedy, and Tay Martin would be the leaders in the clubhouse for the final spot or spots. Wilson missing time would also give Detroit more opportunities to evaluate Malik Cunningham and Tarik Black .
Though Wilson is an experienced veteran and not having him for the final week of camp wouldn't be ideal, Campbell said on Aug. 11 that this Lions receiver group is the deepest they've had in training camp since he took over as head coach in 2021. The depth at the position is outstanding, and it could get entirely shuffled if Wilson's injury ends up being severe.
