The Dallas Cowboys ' offense bounced back in a big way during their Week 2 matchup against the Washington Commanders , and two players received recognition from Pro Football Focus for their performances.
Following Dallas' 37-20 victory over Washington, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and offensive guard T.J Bass were both named to PFF's Week 2 Team of the Week. Lamb was one of the biggest stars of the Cowboys' offensive explosion, while Bass delivered an impressive performance filing in along the offensive line.
CeeDee Lamb dominates against Washington
Lamb was arguably the biggest reason Dallas was able to put 37 points on the scoreboard.
The Cowboys' star receiver caught eight of his nine targets for 153 yards and two touchdowns, including a 24-yard touchdown reception from Dak Prescott . According to PFF, seven of Lamb's eight receptions either moved the chains or resulted in a touchdown.
Lamb also averaged 5.46 yards per route run and generated a perfect 158.3 passer rating when targeted. Those numbers helped him earn a 93.1 overall PFF grade, one of the highest marks among all players during Week 2.
His performance also helped Prescott produce one of his best games of the young season. The quarterback completed 26 of 31 passes for 279 yards and four touchdowns while breaking Troy Aikman's franchise record for career touchdown passes.
T.J. Bass steps up along offensive line
While Lamb received plenty of attention, Bass quietly played an important role in Dallas' offensive success.
Bass earned a spot at left guard on PFF's Week 2 Team of the Week after stepping into the starting lineup with Tyler Smith sidelined. PFF's recognition is significant considering the circumstances surrounding his start and the pressure on Dallas' offensive line to protect Prescott and keep the offense moving.
Bass finished Week 2 with an 84.8 PFF grade, ranking third among Cowboys players behind Lamb and Prescott, according to PFF's grading.
The Cowboys needed Bass to hold his own against Washington's defensive front, and his performance contributed to an offense that scored on seven of eight possessions during the game.
Cowboys offense shows what it can be
The performances from Lamb and Bass highlight just how different Dallas' offense looked in Week 2 compared to its season-opening loss to the New York Giants .
After managing only 20 points in Week 1, the Cowboys exploded for 37 points against Washington. Prescott found Lamb for two touchdowns. Jake Ferguson also caught two touchdown passes, and Dallas consistently moved the ball throughout the afternoon.
PFF's recognition of Lamb and Bass adds another layer to what was already encouraging bounce-back performance. Lamb remains one of the focal points of Dallas' passing attack, while Bass showed that the Cowboys have options along the offensive line despite their injury situation.
Dallas will now look to build on that performance when it faces the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3.
