Jaylen Brown has been the topic of discussion this past week after the Boston Celtics were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. The Celtics’ star went on Twitch and shared his thoughts about the series, the referees, and the entire season. At one point, Brown noted that this was his favorite season, and many thought it was disingenuous to say, especially with Jayson Tatum being out for most of the year.
Stephen A. Smith was one of the people who didn’t seem to be a fan of Brown’s comments, and he went on First Take to share his opinion .
“The first order of business is that he needs to be quiet and go on vacation, unless you’re trying to get traded,” Smith said.
There’s no surprise that Brown caught wind of Smith’s comments and clapped back at the ESPN personality on social media.
“‘I’ll “be quiet’ / stop streaming if you ‘be quiet’ and retire let’s give the people what they want,” Brown wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Smith called out Brown earlier in the week when he called Joel Embiid a flopper on his stream .
“Bro, you get paid over $300 million. You were an MVP candidate,” Smith said. “You were up 3-1 in the series. Did you say anything when you were up 3-1? Did you say anything then? No, you didn’t. And the fact of the matter is, Joel Embiid missed the first three games of the series, came back in Game 4, dropped 26 and the Sixers still got blown out. You said nothing.”
There’s no doubt that Brown has a lot of heat on him right now, but it doesn’t seem like he cares as much. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see more of Brown expressing how he feels on stream about an array of things during the offseason.
