The Boston Celtics are on the road to win their second championship in three years, and many think they have a good chance of making it back to the NBA Finals. Those chances went up when Jayson Tatum returned from his Achilles injury, and in his first playoff game since the tear, he already looks unstoppable .
In the first quarter against the Philadelphia 76ers , Tatum had 10 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Jay Bilas said on the broadcast that he looked like “Superman.”
If Tatum continues to play like that throughout the postseason, it will be interesting to see how far the Celtics can go.
Toward the end of the season, Tatum ramped up his play, and it was obvious that he was going to be ready for the postseason. That makes the Celtics even more dangerous, especially with how they were playing without him during the first half of the season.
Just a week ago, Tatum shared an update on how he’s feeling after his return, and it looks like he surprised himself.
“I think I honestly feel better than I thought I would coming back the way I’m progressing and recovering each game. So, that’s positive,” said Tatum via Noa Dalzell of CelticsBlog on X, formerly Twitter.
With all the uncertainty surrounding how Tatum would look when he came back from injury, he has silenced the doubters with his play. He truly looks like the same player before the injury, and he wanted to make sure of that before he made a return.
Now, the Celtics can focus on making a deep playoff run, and they have the team to do so. For the past few years, the Celtics have been one of the more dominant teams in the league, and with a healthy Tatum back, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them back in the Finals.
