A new season for Arkansas basketball begins tonight with a first-ever meeting against an in-state opponent.
The No. 13 Razorbacks will welcome Arkansas Pine-Bluff (UAPB) to Bud Walton Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 3. There is no history between these two programs, but John Calipari is 1-0 against the Golden Lions with a 78-54 victory in 2002 while the Hall of Fame coach was at Memphis.
Calipari kickstarts his third season at Arkansas with high expectations. The Hogs are a consensus top-15 team with four 5-star freshmen on the roster. Jordan Smith Jr. could become the No. 1 pick in the 2027 NBA Draft, and Billy Richmond III returns as the veteran leader of the team.
Arkansas went 2-0 in the preseason with exhibition victories over Memphis and Gonzaga. The UAPB game tonight represents a final tune-up before a grueling schedule arrives with a neutral-site game against No. 10 Virginia this weekend.
