A new manager being appointed at a club often leads to some curious transfer links, as journalists try to think of new angles for players the new man might be interested in.
With Xabi Alonso coming to Chelsea, that has mainly meant lots of his former Leverkusen and Madrid players being linked. That's to be expected, but there are some more curious links too.

This one feels like a massive long shot, but we'll keep our eyes on it…
Chelsea have been linked with a Sporting player, but his club are hoping to secure him on a new contract to ward off interest.
Alex Scott is another player Chelsea are being linked with heavily in recent weeks. His team want him to sign a new contract to protect themselves from hungry Blues.
