Chiefs rumors: Adam Schefter doesn’t seem sold on WR addition appeared first on ClutchPoints . Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here .
With Rashee Rice set to undergo knee surgery as he deals with a 30-day jail sentence after violating his reckless driving probation , some openly want to see the Kansas City Chiefs add another wide receiver to really take a shot at another Super Bowl win next February.
The problem? While there are some household names on the market, none are particularly interesting , as ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter broke down in an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
“Yeah, and I think some of these players, they’ll be able to handpick their opportunities right before training camp, or maybe they wait a week or two into camp and wait to see if there’s an injury. A lot of these guys haven’t gotten the prices they wanted. Tyreek Hill is an injury situation where he may not be ready till midway through the season. That may be a down-the-line thing. But at some point, if and when the money’s right for any of these players, then they step in at that point in time. But it hasn’t happened yet,” Schefter explained.
“And there’s certainly a lot of options out there at that receiver position right now for teams that are in the market. I don’t know how many teams are in the market for a wide receiver right now. I guess the Chiefs may be looking to add one, maybe. June 1st will bring about the AJ Brown trade. You see the list of the other guys. Brandon Aiyuk, that’s an interesting one. DeAndre Hopkins is still out there. Debo Samuel, I would think, would be able to make some plays for a team. These guys have been unbelievable in the league for a long time.”
With AJ Brown most likely being traded to the New England Patriots on June 1, the options on the market for the Chiefs to pursue are rather thin, largely encompassing players who have already logged snaps in Andy Reid’s program like Hill and Hopkins. Unless the Chiefs really like Stefon Diggs or think they could get one more quality season out of Samuel, their best bet might be to hope for a surprise breakout from a player like Cyrus Allen to become Patrick Mahomes’ next great go-to target.
