Chiefs WR Tyquan Thornton has a chance to build on his breakout season

The Kansas City Chiefs ' wide receiver room was provided with a boost last season with the emergence of Tyquan Thornton .

The former 2022 NFL Draft second-round pick was counted on heavily to start the season with the absence of Rashee Rice for the first six games due to suspension and Xavier Worthy 's injury.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid praised Thornton well before the 2025 season got underway, foreshadowing a productive season.

"I like Tyquan (Thornton), I like the way he's approached things," Reid said during a press conference last summer. He's got the quarterback's trust, which is a positive thing. You have valuable reps in here. The other guys could see that he's a talented guy. So, so far, so good again. I'd like to see him in a game situation, how he held. I would anticipate him doing a nice job and see where we are with that."

Thornton finished the 2025 season with 19 catches for 438 yards and three touchdowns. He was acquired at the end of the 2024 season as a developmental player who could take on a bigger role on the team after not getting significant opportunities with the New England Patriots .
