Chivas got another solid road victory when they defeated Atletico San Luis by a 3-0 score. While Chivas was the away team, they had control of the stands (with a clear majority) and the match and got two early goals that led to the victory which has them up to 2nd place in the standings for the time being. Chivas will return home where they will host a busy Pumas while Atletico San Luis will have a tough away match against Leon.

The 1st half started with both teams coming out with solid starting 11's. Angel Sepulveda got off a left footed shot that was well saved by San Luis' goalkeeper, Andres Sanchez. Rafa Llorente would get off a right footed shot that was easily saved by Chivas' goalkeeper, Raul Rangel. A cross into the area was volleyed by Santiago Sandoval from close range and the ball would hit the post and then bounce off Andres Sanchez to go into the net for an own goal that gave Chivas the early 1-0 lead. Atletico San Luis would answer quickly with Sebastien Salles-Lamonge getting off a right footed shot that hit the post. A longball into the area was headed back by Sepulveda into the path of Ricardo Marin, who got off a great left footed shot past Sanchez to score and give Chivas the 2-0 lead. In the first fifteen minutes, Chivas had taken a two goal lead and looked like they were going to get an easy victory. The match eventually evened out although San Luis didn't look capable of threatening Chivas eventhough they were trailing at home by two goals. San Luis would sub out Anderson Duarte for Lucas Estevez. In an incredible strange play, Sanchez would go out of his area to try to clear the ball and would injure himself badly when he kicked it. He would have to come out of the match and Gibran Lajud would be subbed in his place. Sepulveda would get off a left footed shot in the area that would go wide. Off a free kick, Salles-Lamonge would get off a right footed shot that would go just wide. The first half ended and Chivas had a deserved two goal lead after dominating the match and getting those early goals.
The 2nd half started with San Luis subbing out Johan Caicedo for Leonardo Flores. Off a counter attack, David Rodriguez had a good chance but his shot went straight to Rangel. Chivas subbed out Hugo Camberos and Angel Sepulveda for Richard Ledezma and Efrain Alvarez. Off a corner kick, the cross into the area was almost deflected into the net by Luis Romo but Rangel came up with the save. Atletico San Luis subbed out Miguel Garcia and David Rodriguez for Sebastian Perez Bouquet and Ronaldo Najera. Chivas subbed out Santiago Sandoval and Daniel Aguirre for Kevin Castañeda and Luis Rey. A right footed shot in the area from Flores was saved by Rangel. Chivas subbed out Ruben Gonzalez for Brian Gutierrez. After getting into the area, Richard Ledezma would get off a very strong right footed shot that went past Lajud and into the net to score and give Chivas the 3-0 lead. A right footed shot from outside the area by Alvarez would go just wide. There were no more chances as that third goal had killed the match and Chivas got off another solid victory in their improving 2026 Apertura campaign.

After a somewhat difficult start to their Apertura 2026, Chivas seem to have corrected things and are in an upswing. While last week's tie against Pachuca brought back the low scoring problems they had in past games, on Saturday they will get two early goals that set things into an easy victory. Chivas was the better side for 90 minutes against an Atletico San Luis that had some fight in the 2nd half but overall had a very poor match. Chivas is now temporarily in 2nd place although it was a week where the Leagues Cup meant four matches were postponed. Yet they will be heavy favorites on Sunday as they host a Pumas side that had an historic negative streak in Guadalajara and would play their postponed Sunday match on Thursday before traveling to Guadalajara. Atletico San Luis will travel to Leon, where they will also face a team that played on Thursday (Leon is Pumas' rival for that match).
