After a stellar Game 1 that had several proclaiming that he was the best player in the world, Victor Wembanyama has Chris Broussard terrified.
On the latest edition of First Things First, Broussard did his classic bit , downplaying his incoming hyperbolic statements before fully unleashing.
"He's 7-foot-5, Wildes. I know. He's the best player on earth. He's averaging 28, 12, and three rejections in this series, and game six is in San Antonio. Worried. So I'm not worried in the least bit…I'm terrified! Troubled. Aflutter. I'm on pins and needles. "
Broussard then went on to list why he was terrified following Wembanyama's relatively quiet night.
"Now, look, I'm not giving up. They still got life. Yeah. But they, and, and what it, the way it showed up to me was in Wemby looked exhausted… They had a two-game break between the series. But they basically been playing every other day… And so I thought defensive, like he just wasn't going after shots. He wasn't move…he looked lethargic at times. I do expect..him to find it for game six…But he definitely looked worn down and exhausted."
Broussard put into perspective Wembanyama's level of play last night. The San Antonio Spurs star finished the game with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, 3 blocks, and 1 assist in 38 minutes. He shot only 4-for-15 from the field and 0-for-5 from 3-point land.
While Wembanyama looked lethargic on the court, he also caused a spark off of the court by declining to talk to the media. His refusal to address the media post-game ultimately led to a warning by the NBA.
