- Cleveland Browns Draft Profile: Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, S, Toledo
This year's safety class in the 2026 NFL draft has some prospects that could be real game changers for teams on the defensive side of the ball. The Cleveland Browns could be in the market to add someone as a potential replacement for Grant Delpit . Everyone knows about Caleb Downs from Ohio State, but there's another prospect from the state of Ohio who's been shooting up draft boards.
Toledo's Emmanuel McNeil-Warren is a first-round talent who, like Downs, can line up in multiple different places for a defense as a chess piece, although he is at his best in the box as a strong safety. Let's dive into McNeil-Warren's strengths, weaknesses, and overall draft profile.

Strengths:
-
Size/Length
-
Sideline to sideline speed/range
-
Strength and Physicality
To quote an old cliche, McNeil-Warren plays the game with his hair on fire and wants to make his presence felt early and often with his physicality, both in coverage and especially when hitting the ball carrier. When playing the run, McNeil-Warren is so fast to trigger and flies downhill in a hurry. He's got above-average sideline-to-sideline speed that helps him cover a lot of ground.
His length and physicality truly jump off the screen on tape; he's every bit as impactful in the run game as he is in coverage. In his career, he has forced nine fumbles, including three this past season and four during the 2023 season. He will make receivers hesitate catching the ball in the middle of the field, knowing he's around waiting to attack them at the catch point and lay a big hit on them.
Weaknesses/Areas of Concern:
-
Level of College Competition
-
Average Long Speed
-
Coverage Instincts when lined up as a single high free safety

Whenever a prospect comes from a smaller school like Toledo, there is some concern about the jump in level of competition. But he showed flashes of punching above his weight class with his Senior Bowl performance against the top prospects in this year's class, which was promising, but doesn't completely negate the concern.
Though he has good sideline-to-sideline speed, his long speed is average, which is another reason he is at his best closer to the line of scrimmage in the box. When he is lined up as a single high free, his instincts in coverage have some bright spots, but are inconsistent, though he showed improvement this year in that area.
