- Colts injury update: Latest on WR Alec Pierce, SS A.J. Haulcy and status for opener
INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts remain hopeful that they will have every weapon available to Daniel Jones when he takes the field for the opener on Sept. 13 against Baltimore.
Tight end Tyler Warren , slot receiver Josh Downs and outside receiver Alec Pierce were all spotted participating in the portion of practice open to the media on Tuesday.

Pierce, who missed almost all of training camp as he recovers from offseason surgery on his ankle, remains the biggest concern. Warren is returning from a mild groin strain suffered in the team's first joint practice against Atlanta, and Downs told reporters that he sat out last week's practices for precautionary reasons.
Pierce practiced for the first time on Thursday, and now he has two weeks to get ready to play the Ravens.
"It's good to have him back out there, got a good day of work today," Colts general manager Chris Ballard said. "We'll see going forward, but we're hopeful. We'll see how it ends up landing."

Pierce initially tried to treat the injury with a platelet-rich plasma injection the day after the 2025 season, hoping to avoid surgery. Unfortunately, after two months, Pierce was still experiencing problems with the ankle, and he underwent surgery in late March.

"We found out it had something bone-wise that was causing issues, so we went ahead and got rid of the issue so I didn't continue to hurt myself," Pierce said.
Ballard initially said Pierce would only have to miss the first week or two of training camp.
Doctors had told Pierce the recovery would take four to six months, and the opening of training camp landed in the early portion of that window. Pierce is now roughly five months into his recovery, finally able to return to the field.
"Everybody's rehab's a little bit different," Ballard said. "He's progressing to a point. He's worked really hard, he's pushed really hard and he's progressing really nicely. We think we're in a good spot, and we'll see how it continues to progress over the next 10 days."

Rookie offensive guard Jalen Farmer also returned to practice after missing last week due to a knee issue.
Rookie strong safety A.J. Haulcy, veteran cornerback Jaylon Jones and newly-acquired center Sedrick Van Pran-Granger were the only Colts who did not participate in practice.
Haulcy is the only potential starter among that group. The rookie spent most of training camp working as the team's strong safety next to Camryn Bynum, but he has been out the last week due to an ankle injury. Second-year safety Hunter Wohler would likely step into the starting lineup in Haulcy's place.
"I don't know yet," Ballard said. "He's progressing really well, so that'll be a better question for next week. He's progressing well."
