What to know about EJ Horton
With 4.40 speed, teams tried to push the ball downfield to Horton. In 2023, with Marshall -- Horton missed the 2024 season due to injury -- he averaged 20.1 yards per catch. Last year at Purdue, his average depth of target was 15.2 yards downfield. Most of his snaps have come out wide, and Horton's most productive season was in 2025, when he recorded 289 yards with one touchdown.
Looking ahead to 2026 for EJ Horton
Horton, along with the Colts ' other UDFA wide receivers Sahmir Hagans and Raylen Sharpe, all face an uphill battle when it comes to making the 53-man roster. In short, the Colts' wide receiver room is fairly crowded.
Behind Alec Pierce and Josh Downs , there are Nick Westbrook-Ikhine , Ashton Dulin , Deion Burks , and Laquon Treadwell , who are all competing for the WR3 role. Also on the roster is Anthony Gould , who was the primary return man last season.
That already is seven players, and typically, teams roster just five or six wideouts. Horton will most likely be competing for a spot on the practice squad.
