Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor has added fuel to the fire of his trade speculation with an Instagram story hinting at a potential move to the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Colts have started the process of a major internal reshuffle, firing GM Chris Ballard while trading players like Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner to new teams for future assets.
Star RB Taylor faces an uncertain future after these moves. Despite signing a new contract in the offseason and Carlie Irsay-Gordon wanting to retain him, Taylor might be hinting at a potential preferred trade destination for him.
Jonathan Taylor's IG story references the Bengals amid Colts trade rumours
Taylor posted a picture of a bowl of Cincinnati-style chilli with an emoji of two eyes. With the chilli looking like what iconic Cincinnati-based chain Skyline Chilli (official Chilli of the Bengals) would serve, fans think this is a clear reference to the Bengals.
While no credible rumours have linked Taylor to the Bengals just yet, many analysts have been discussing the potentially perfect match between the player and team this season.
The Bengals have one of the worst rushing games in the NFL, overburdening QB Joe Burrow as a passer to create offence. While Burrow has some excellent receivers helping him be productive, an alternate rush option better than Chase Brown will make the Bengals' offence a lot more dynamic.
Taylor has registered 587 yards and eight touchdowns as a rusher on 140 carries, while also catching 17 receptions for 178 yards. He would be an excellent complementary threat to Burrow on offence and give the Bengals the additional firepower they need.
The price would likely start with a second-round pick before figuring out what players are required to make the deal feasible to both parties. But with the Colts taking a public stand that they will keep Taylor for now, the Bengals might need to be wary of the price they ultimately wind up paying.
