The Washington Commanders have begun training camp , and many are expecting the team to have a bounce-back season after an injury-riddled 2025 season. There are still some areas that the Commanders are looking to improve in, with one of them being the wide receiver room.
They got off to a good start on that front, recently signing former San Francisco 49ers receiver River Cracraft , according to ESPN's John Keim.
Cracraft actually played two games with the Commanders last season, returning a pair of punts for the team during his short stint. Along with the Commanders and 49ers, he's also played for the Miami Dolphins and Denver Broncos . In 53 games, he has 32 catches for 374 yards and three touchdowns.

For most of the offseason, the Commanders have been rumored to need another receiver on the team. The one name that has consistently popped up is Brandon Aiyuk , who is still going through his troubles with the 49ers. Outside of that, he's been posting on social media for the past few months, calling out the 49ers while also mentioning the Commanders.
General manager Adam Peters was recently asked about how he evaluates players and if he looks at their social media at any time during the process, alluding to Aiyuk.
"We look at everything. We want to make sure it's the right player to be in our locker room, in our bloodstream, in our culture. We often look at that stuff. But it's not always the first thing we look at, obviously," Peters said.
The Commanders have Terry McLaurin as their WR1, but it would be nice if they had another solidified option next to him. Other than Aiyuk, Stefon Diggs is another receiver being linked to the Commanders.
There is still time for them to add another receiver, but they don't want to wait until it's too late.
