It was a memorable Tuesday for Josh Samanski at the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.
Samanski, who played for the Bakersfield Condors this season until the start of February when he got an NHL call-up to the Edmonton Oilers, is currently in Italy to play for his home country of Germany.

The team, which finished second in Olympic Group C, moved into the single-elimination round and drew France first.
Samanski assisted on a first-period, power-play goal by Leon Draisaitl — who played with the Condors briefly in 2015-16 — and then the forward got his first Olympic goal in the third period on another power play, with assists by Draisaitl and Moritz Seider for a 4-1 lead. Germany eventually won 5-1 over France.
The win advanced the Germans to a quarterfinal game today against Slovakia at 3:10 a.m. Pacific time. Should Germany win, it would play a semifinal game on Friday. The bronze medal game is Saturday and the gold medal game will be played Sunday.
Earlier in the Olympics, Germany defeated Denmark 3-1, lost 4-3 to Latvia and then lost 5-1 to the United States. Draisaitl has two goals and three assists in Germany's four games.

CSUB Baseball
The Roadrunners baseball team, due to inclement local weather, has pushed its non-conference game home game today against Utah Tech to 4 p.m. at Hardt Field.
The Roadrunners will come into this solo game with a 2-2 record after splitting a four-game series with Southern Indiana. Rain on Monday forced CSUB to move up its scheduled game with USI into a doubleheader last Sunday. The Utah Tech game was originally scheduled for today.
Following the game with Utah Tech, the CSUB baseball team will head to Corpus Christi, Texas, to play in the Kleberg Classic this weekend. CSUB will open the event at 4 p.m. Friday against tournament host University of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Roadrunners will face Pitt at noon Saturday and Big West Conference counterpart Long Beach State in a non-conference game at 9 a.m. Sunday.

BC M/W Basketball
The Renegade men's and women's basketball teams will host Los Angeles Valley in a Western State Conference doubleheader at 5 and 7 p.m. today at the Renegade Athletics Complex gymnasium.
The men's team will play the first game and enters with a 15-11 overall record and 7-5 in WSC South Division play. BC is tied with Antelope Valley for third place in the division. LA Valley is 7-18 overall, 2-10 WSC South.
The BC women's team (18-8, 10-2 WSC South) will play the nightcap and look to strengthen its hold on second place in the conference standings. The Monarchs (10-16, 7-5 WSC) are tied for fourth place in the South Division.
