Right now, the Colorado Rockies are going to do whatever they can do to avoid totaling 100 losses in the 2026 MLB season. On Friday night, the Rockies welcome the St. Louis Cardinals into Coors Field.
Yet there were a number of players involved in that win over the Orioles. Let's break down what Brett Sullivan, Jake McCarthy , Cole Carrigg, and Zac Veen did on Wednesday night.

Sullivan went 1-for-1 with two RBIs and was the hero here. He delivered the walk-off win for the Rockies with a two-run single in the bottom of the 11th inning. It was the first walk-off hit of his career.
Sullivan entered the game in the top of the 11th as a defensive replacement. This also marked the second hit of his career to put his team in the lead in the seventh inning or later. It happened back in April 2026.
McCarthy raked for Rockies
McCarthy had a night at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, a RBI, a walk, and a strikeout. McCarthy smashed his eighth triple this season, which set a new career high mark. He added a double in the eighth inning, making it his eighth multi extra-base hit game this season.

Carrigg has been, at times, a human highlight reel in his rookie season for Colorado. He went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI, and scored a run. Carrigg put up his 17th multi-hit game this season and snapped a six-game streak without an RBI.
Veen finished up going 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI against the Orioles. He popped out from the Rockies' bench in the ninth inning. Good thing he did because Veen delivered a game-tying pinch-hit double that sent the Rockies-Orioles game into extra innings. This was Veen's second career pinch hit for Colorado.
Rockies try to avoid 100 losses
As a reminder, Colorado can only lose 13 more games if it wants to avoid the 100-loss season. There has been marked improvement over the 2025 team. For one thing, this season's squad has won more games than happened last season.

Also, these Rockies hustle and hustle a lot. It's not surprising anymore to see players like Carrigg or TJ Rumfield bust it down the line on a groundout. One cannot teach that type of hustle when getting called up from the minor leagues.
These guys are ready to go, even at a moment's notice. That's a credit to the work put into keeping the players ready to go by Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer .
As of Friday morning, the Cardinals haven't named their starting rotation. That should be fixed before first pitch on Friday night.
Colorado will be ready to go, even with their starting pitchers trying to put together solid starts.
