All things are still very quiet on the Aaron Rodgers front. Pittsburgh Steelers president Art Rooney said recently that he expects a verdict on the four-time Associated Press NFL MVP’s decision before the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter wondered Monday on “The Pat McAfee Show” if the future Pro Football Hall of Famer could have something big up his sleeve when the selection process descends on the Steel City.
“If he walked out on the stage and announced he was coming back, it would great,” Schefter said . “They play ‘Renegade’ and he comes walking out to announce the Steelers pick, that would be pretty cool.”
Rodgers was the victim of a draft board slide before the Green Bay Packers selected him with the No. 24 pick in the 2005 NFL Draft. McAfee said such an announcement could bring things back around for Rodgers.
“That was certainly a lot expectation that other people were putting on a program that wasn’t possible,” McAfee said. “It feels like that happens in wrestling a pretty good amount, as well. But Big Night Aht certainly had those situations. It would be incredible if Aaron Rodgers walks out, does the dap up with (Roger) Goodell. Full-circle moment, because, remember, his draft night wasn’t the most fun.
“He comes out to ‘Oh mama.’ Styx, Renegade. Place starts sensing a little bit, ‘Holy fuck.’ That is him. He starts walking across the stage and says, ‘Yes, Yinzers. Yes, you can hear me.’ And this is exactly what Aaron Rodgers would definitely wanna do. … That would be a great moment.”
