With the 2026 NBA Draft set to take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Houston Rockets seem to be prioritizing shooting. Rightfully so, as it was their Achilles heel last year.
Ryan Conwell is someone to keep an eye on as he had the ultimate green light from deep, attempting 9.6 per game. He was also 12th in made threes during his senior year, draining 112 of them through 34 games, per Sports-Reference .
Unfortunately that only adds up to 34.5-percent, which doesn't sound impressive at all. He shot over 40-percent in his two prior seasons though, averaging his collegiate career out to a very respectable 37.6-percent.
It seems to me like he might've been a little out of his element taking nearly 10 threes a game, but can be a knockdown shooter on lower volume. At least that's the hope.
He did also play at four different schools, which might just become the norm now, but I think that can give him an advantage. Much like a journeyman NBA player, he was able to seamlessly fit in with new guys every year.
Conwell is older, experienced, and theoretically NBA ready. That's definitely a point of emphasis I've tried to nail home ahead of the draft.
He lost a couple of inches at the draft combine, now listed at 6'2" without shoes, but he has an impressive 6'7" wingspan.
That definitely helps him defensively, where I've seen him get him comparisons to Donte DiVincenzo and Wesley Matthews. Not a bad option for the Rockets to keep an eye on.
