- Who could Mexico play in the 2026 World Cup round of 16?
After breezing through the group stage at the 2026 World Cup , Mexico is preparing for its next match in the knockout round.
El Tri capped its perfect run with a 3-0 win over Czechia in which legendary goalkeeper Memo Ochoa got a chance to make an appearance in front of the home fans.

It marked the sixth World Cup for the 40-year-old Ochoa, and the fourth in which he has appeared.
Now, the benefits of being a co-host nation could come into play even more. Mexico's path to the World Cup quarterfinals doesn't require the team to leave home soil. Its next game in the round of 32 − as well as a potential round of 16 matchup − are both scheduled to take place in Mexico City.
Who could Mexico play in the round of 16?
