Frank Lampard's troops have found it difficult at the top of the English pyramid since their return across the early months of the 2026/27 Premier League season, banking just one win in five and flirting with an immediate drop back down to the Championship.

A frustrating 1-0 reversal against Hull on home soil was a tough pill to swallow, while a heavy defeat against Brighton (5-0) meant the club had yet to find the back of the net on their patch in the league before tonight.
A sixth-minute converted penalty by Jack Rudoni broke that duck amid rapturous applause from fans as the 26-year-old wheeled away in celebration.

With a first in the bank, maybe it's just the start of something bigger?
