The Dallas Cowboys are adding a familiar face to their coaching staff just in time for the start of training camp.
It was confirmed on Friday that former NFL quarterback Will Grier is joining Brian Schottenheimer's staff for the 2026 season. Grier should have no trouble getting on the same page with Schottenheimer considering he was on "America's Team" from 2021-2022 and 2024-2025.
A little over a week ago, Grier was on the Carolina Panthers ' roster. They placed him on the reserve/retired list on July 15.
Clearly, the Cowboys had interest in Grier from the moment he hung up his cleats. It'll be fascinating to see him work alongside his former teammate, Pro Bowl quarterback Dak Prescott .
Grier is officially being listed as an offensive assistant for Schottenheimer's staff.

Will Grier had an exceptional college career.
Grier finished his NFL career making just two starts. He completed 53.8% of his passes for 228 yards with four interceptions.
Most football fans know Grier for his run at West Virginia. The former Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year finished his Mountaineers career with 7,354 passing yards, 71 touchdowns and 20 interceptions.
It'll be interesting to see if Grier thrives as an NFL coach.
