Cowboys Star Brandon Aubrey Rewrites NFL History Against Chiefs
Brandon Aubrey is expected to play a pivotal role for the Dallas Cowboys in Thursday’s highly anticipated Thanksgiving matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs . This high-profile contest is already shaping up to be a classic that could ultimately be decided by a single field goal, setting the stage for Aubrey to be Dallas’ hero in the game.
The 30-year-old kicker wasted no time making his impact on the contest. He made his first extra-point attempt in the first quarter, en route to rewriting the history books yet again. Aubrey’s latest milestone drew an announcement from the Cowboys during the game.
Aubrey is currently in his third year in Dallas. A former professional soccer player, Aubrey decided to switch sports in his late 20s, which led to the Cowboys signing him as an undrafted prospect in 2023. Since then, Aubrey has been an incredible revelation for Dallas, making two Pro Bowl appearances and earning one All-Pro first team selection in his first two seasons.
Aubrey has also made all sorts of history during his time in the NFL . On Thursday against the Chiefs, the St. Louis, Missouri native was at it again. The Cowboys took to social media to announce Aubrey’s historic feat.
“With that extra point after the CeeDee Lamb touchdown, Brandon Aubrey surpassed 400 career kicking points today, joining Harrison Butker and Wil Lutz as the only three kickers in NFL history to reach 400 points in the first 46 games of a career,” Dallas Cowboys Public Relations posted on X.
Aubrey’s historic moment came in the first quarter as he capped off the Cowboys’ impressive scoring drive with an extra point. He then returned to the field in the second quarter for a 49-yard field goal. That cut Kansas City’s deficit to 14-10.
Aubrey would go on to score two more field goals in the game to help lift the Cowboys. It was a hard-fought affair, but it was Dallas who ultimately came out on top, 31-28.
The Cowboys improved to 6-5-1 after their Thanksgiving win. Up next for them is a Week 14 matchup against the Detroit Lions next Thursday, Dec. 4.
