Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb Addresses Troubling Development Ahead of Chiefs Game
CeeDee Lamb and the Dallas Cowboys are coming off a big win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, and they will be looking to carry that momentum into their Thanksgiving showdown against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs .
Lamb, however, was far from his best in Sunday’s upset win over the defending champions. The All-Pro wide receiver is well aware of his shortcomings against the Eagles , and he’s addressed them directly ahead of the Thanksgiving matchup against the Chiefs.
Lamb registered four receptions against Philly on Sunday for 75 yards. The issue, however, is that the four-time Pro Bowler had trouble catching the ball. Lamb dropped three passes in the game, bringing his season total to a career-high eight, according to ESPN . That is far from the high standards that the Cowboys expect from their star wideout.
Lamb did not shy away from the issue as he spoke to reporters on Tuesday. The 26-year-old admitted that the problem lies with him.
"I gotta lock in on my mentals, man," Lamb said, via the Cowboys’ official website . "It ain't really too much going on as far as catching the ball. It's not really anybody in my way. I'm the only one guarding myself, I feel like.
"So, yeah, we're gonna fix that. I just gotta lock in, be myself, and do what got me here. I'm in this position for a reason. And, uh, I know I'm ready for it."
Lamb went on to acknowledge the fact that there has been “a lack of focus on my end.” The former Oklahoma Sooners star stated that he holds himself accountable for the same.
"No, I just find ways to get better," he continued. "I want to be solution-oriented and not really dwell on the problem. Granted, we know the problem — I need to catch the [expletive] ball.
“When I do catch it, just be ready."
The silver lining for Lamb is that he will have an opportunity to redeem himself on the grandest of stages. Cowboys-Chiefs has the makings of one of the biggest games of the season, and Lamb clearly intends to make his mark.
Dallas will host Thursday’s game at 4:30 p.m. ET. It will air on CBS.
