The San Diego Padres are finally ready to unveil one of their most intriguing additions of the season. According to 97.3 The Fan's Sammy Levitt, Padres manager Craig Stammen confirmed that the Lucas Giolito will make his debut on Sunday against the Seattle Mariners . The announcement immediately created buzz around the clubhouse and across the fanbase as San Diego continues pushing through a competitive NL West race.

Lucas Giolito signed a one-year major league contract with the Padres on April 22. Since then, fans have waited to see when the veteran right-hander would officially take the mound in brown and gold. That wait now ends in Seattle.
The timing feels important. The Padres currently sit at 26-18 and remain firmly in the playoff conversation despite heavy pressure inside the division. Every series matters right now, and every pitching performance matters even more.
Lucas Giolito also arrives with something to prove . Injuries and inconsistency slowed parts of his recent career, but the talent has never disappeared. When he commands the strike zone, he still looks capable of dominating lineups under the stadium lights. That possibility alone raises the ceiling for this rotation.
Padres hoping Lucas Giolito sparks rotation boost
Sunday's matchup against the Mariners suddenly carries extra intrigue because of the expectations surrounding Giolito's first appearance. Seattle remains one of the tougher teams to face on the road, especially with the energy that builds inside T-Mobile Park during big weekend games.

Still, the Padres believe this move can strengthen an already dangerous roster. Craig Stammen sounded confident while discussing the decision, and the organization clearly views Giolito as more than just temporary depth. San Diego wants another reliable arm capable of helping this team survive a long postseason chase.
The atmosphere should feel electric once Lucas Giolito steps onto the mound for the first time wearing a Padres uniform. A fresh start. A contender. Big expectations.
And if Giolito delivers immediately against the Mariners, how much scarier will these Padres suddenly look heading into summer?
