Ben Chilwell to Crystal Palace : Deadline-Day Move Edges Closer
Crystal Palace are pushing to bring Ben Chilwell back to the Premier League before the summer transfer window closes, with the left-back having agreed to the switch in principle, according to GFFN, citing Foot Mercato. The 29-year-old is understood to be open to the move and keen on a return to Selhurst Park after his previous spell with the club while on loan from Chelsea .

As things stand, the deal is not yet done. Palace are working against a rapidly closing deadline, with less than an hour left in the window at the point of the original report. That leaves very little margin for error as the club attempt to complete the necessary documentation, final checks and submission process in time to lodge a deal sheet before the Premier League cut-off.

Crystal Palace Face Late Ben Chilwell Deadline
There is growing confidence around the player side of the arrangement, which often represents a significant hurdle in moves of this nature. Chilwell's willingness to return gives Palace a platform, but the transfer remains dependent on club-to-club progress. Strasbourg have not yet reached an agreement on a fee, and that remains the central issue as the final moments of the window tick down.

From Palace's perspective, this is a familiar deadline-day scenario, a deal with clear logic but a shrinking timeframe. Chilwell would offer proven Premier League experience, quality from the left and added depth in an area where top-flight know-how can make a genuine difference over the course of a demanding campaign.
Strasbourg Negotiations Hold Key
Strasbourg's position is understandable. Any sale this late in the window leaves them exposed, particularly if they do not have enough time to secure a replacement. That naturally strengthens their hand in negotiations, even with the player ready to make the move.
For Crystal Palace, the task is now simple in theory and complicated in practice, find an agreement quickly enough to turn intent into a completed transfer. With Ben Chilwell keen and Palace moving decisively, the final outcome rests on whether the clubs can settle the fee before the deadline arrives.

Our View
From a Crystal Palace supporter's perspective, this is exactly the sort of move that can lift the mood around the place. Ben Chilwell is a player with pedigree, serious Premier League experience and the kind of quality that can improve the squad immediately if he arrives fit and sharp. There is obvious excitement in the idea of bringing back someone who already has a connection to the club, because supporters always respond to players who understand the environment and what Selhurst Park demands.
The appeal is easy to see. Palace fans want players who can make an impact straight away, and Chilwell has the background to do that. He knows the intensity of English football, he can contribute in both defensive and attacking phases, and he would add competition on the left side. For a team looking to keep progressing, those details matter.
There will naturally be some anxiety over the clock, because late deals can change quickly, but the report alone is enough to generate belief. If Palace can get this over the line, it would feel like a smart, ambitious piece of business. Supporters would view it as a statement that the club are willing to act boldly when an opportunity appears, and that is exactly the sort of energy fans want to see heading into a new stretch of the season.
