- CSUB men's basketball plays home exhibition Saturday
The Cal State Bakersfield men's basketball team will play its lone home exhibition game at 3 p.m. today against the University of Redlands in the Icardo Center. Admission is free.
It's the community's first opportunity to see first-year CSUB head coach Todd Lee's player roster that's almost entirely turned over.
The lone Roadrunner back from last season's team is Jaden Alexander. The fifth-year 6-4 guard forward has been at CSUB since his redshirt freshman year in 2023-24. He has played in 77 games. Last year, Alexander averaged 9.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 42.4% from the field, 35.3% from three-point range, and 82.9% from the free throw line in 19.7 minutes per game. He had 11 games in which he scored in double digits. His best game was a 35-point, 11-rebound performance in a Big West Conference victory over UC Davis on Jan. 3, 2026.
In CSUB's two exhibition games, at Eastern Washington and at Montana, Alexander scored 17 and a team-high 24 points, respectively. Bryce Cofield, a transfer from Cal State Fullerton, led the Roadrunners with 19 points against Eastern Washington.
One notable aspect of Lee's roster is an abundance of international-born players: Iliyah Pishtikov, 6-3 guard, from Botevgrad, Bulgaria; Chudi Dioramma, a 6-10 forward from London; Pietro Iannuzzi, a 6-6 guard from Turin, Italy; 6-2 guard Sean Pouedet from Vilvoorde, Belgium; Tom Koppens, a 6-8 forward from Melbourne, Australia; and Petar Ivancic, a 6-10 forward from Pula, Croatia.
Transfers from U.S. colleges also dot the roster, including Cameron Barnes, a 6-10 forward from Illinois State; Kjay Bradley, a 6-1 guard who last played at the University of San Diego; Blake Dibble, a 6-2 guard from Bakersfield who played at Hartnell College; Snookey Wigington, a 5-9 guard from Ventura College; 6-6 guard Kristian Payne is a first-year player from Terra Verde Prep in Oklahoma.
Following today's game, the Roadrunners' season-opening game is 6:30 p.m. Thursday at home against Anaheim's Stanton University.
BC Football
The Bakersfield College football team will play a non-conference road game against Glendale College at 2 p.m. today. The game, which was initially listed as a 4 p.m. start time on the Renegades schedule, gives the team a chance to go after its third straight victory a little earlier.
The Renegades (4-4) defeated Fullerton 41-37 at home two weeks ago and then played at winless East Los Angeles last Saturday where the team put together a 76-29 victory, scoring the most points in a BC game since a 91-6 victory in 1948 over Dixie College of Utah.
The Renegades' 117 points in their last two games is a welcomed sight. Head coach Tyler Thompson was adamant about getting more scoring on offense. In last week's game alone, BC scored five rushing touchdowns, threw three touchdown passes and BC also got three scores on special teams. BC had two kickoff returns for touchdowns in the first quarter.
The Vaqueros should be a more formidable opponent. Glendale is 5-3, has won its last two games and is 3-0 at John Cicuto Stadium at Sartoris Field on campus.
