Dalton Risner contract details with Bengals emerge
The Cincinnati Bengals locked down guard Dalton Risner on a contract extension early this week, securing his return roughly one week before NFL free agency starts.
Early reports on the Risner return tabbed the deal between the Bengals and the veteran guard as a one-year pact worth $5 million.
Turns out it’s a little more interesting than that.
According to Spotrac , Risner signed a one-year deal worth $3.25 million with $1 million guaranteed. Another $1.75 million could open up through incentives.
So, a team-friendly deal that lets the Bengals get back a veteran player who panned out well. It’s the first time in the Joe Burrow era they will return all five starting offensive linemen.
Not a bad deal for Risner, either. He told reporters he wasn’t interested in testing the open market and he’s got some nice incentives to grab, likely pertaining to playing time.
