And here we go. As predicted back in September, when Marc-Andre Fleury
played his retirement game for the Pittsburgh Penguins
, a report surfaced Monday that teams are checking in to see if the Flower wants one more go-round. The struggling Toronto Maple Leafs
shook up the coaching staff, and we dissected the latest Penguins trade chatter.
Elsewhere in the Daily, the NHL trade talk is looking at the New York Islanders
' needs and the LA Kings
' effort to revamp their team.

Rather than an up-and-back to Toronto, I decided to grab a cheap room and stay in Niagara Falls last night. I had cleared the day for holiday stuff, but that fell through, so I started the drive … and then a few inches of snow followed. I assume I'll get to the game in Toronto. I probably should have checked the weather forecast a little closer.
I know today begins the Christmas holiday for many people, and consider me jealous. It's been a long time since I had a family holiday. For everyone not rushing around or surrounded by family, I'll do a Penguins Live chat tomorrow. I know as well as anyone how complicated the holidays can be, so we'll talk some hockey.
Also, the latest No Pucks Given dropped on Monday. The Sunday night game meant we couldn't have co-host Vince Communale join us, but I did OK:

NHL Trade Talk, News, & NHN
Toronto Hockey Now: The first shoe dropped as the media and fans wonder if they're witnessing a lost Maple Leafs season. Monday, the team gave the boot to assistant coach Marc Savard

New Jersey
Hockey Now: So, is it time to grab the shovel and start digging a grave for what would have been a family reunion in Newark? Is the Hughes to the New Jersey Devils talk
dead?

Detroit
Hockey Now: It's been a funky season in Motown. A hot start. An ice-cold slide. Big-name goalie becomes a shooter tutor, and another stumbles equally as bad. Yet Detroit is in the thick of the Eastern Conference. So, as our senior Rugby player (no joke) Bob Duff writes, what happens if the Detroit Red Wings
get both goalies going?!
