The most surprising fact from Monday night is that the Sacramento Kings finally won a game., ending a winless streak that stretched back to the start of the season. Darius Acuff Jr. scored 25 points to lead the Kings to a 115-100 victory over the Dallas Mavericks, marking their first win in seven games. The Kings needed this win, and Acuff Jr. delivered when the team needed him most to secure the breakthrough.
The Mavericks entered the contest with momentum after winning three straight games, but they could not sustain that energy against a hungry Sacramento squad. To rest his left knee, Dallas guard Kyrie Irving sat out, creating a massive hole in the team's offense. DLLS Sports reported that Irving's absence disrupted the Mavericks' offensive flow. Cooper Flagg tried to fill the gap with 17 points, four rebounds, and six assists, but he shot just 3-of-19 from the field. Flagg did make all 11 of his free throws, yet his poor shooting from the floor hurt the team's overall efficiency.

Cooper Flagg's Shooting Woes
Cooper Flagg's night was a stark contrast to his usual strong start, as he found it difficult to sustain his early-season form. Dallas Mavericks coach Dusty May pointed out that the team could not answer when the Kings made runs, a key factor in the loss. May noted that when one star rests and another has an off night, other players must step up and make shots. The supporting cast failed to do so, as the team's poor shooting performance contributed heavily to the defeat. "He does so much for us and making big shots and calming us down," Dallas Mavericks coach Dusty May said, referring to the missing Irving.
Dallas dropped to a 4-3 record after this loss, a slide that feels sharp after their recent winning streak. Daniel Gafford and Walter Clayton Jr. each scored 20 points for the Mavericks, but it was not enough to overcome the Kings' balanced attack. Malik Monk scored 24 points and Zach LaVine contributed 23 for the Kings, proving Sacramento possessed several offensive threats. The Kings led 54-53 at the half, but they pulled away in the second half to seal the victory. This loss ends the Mavericks' run of three consecutive wins and forces them to reset their focus quickly.
The Kings Finally Break Through
For the Kings, this victory was not just a win; it was the first of the season, a milestone that had eluded them for weeks. The team had lost six straight games before Tuesday night, creating a sense of urgency that finally paid off. Acuff Jr. stepped up to lead the charge, proving that Sacramento has the scoring depth to compete even without their usual top stars. The win changes the narrative for a Kings team that looked lost in the early weeks of the campaign.

Both teams face immediate challenges as they prepare for their next games on Wednesday night. The Kings will travel to face the Los Angeles Lakers, looking to build on their first win. Meanwhile, the Mavericks must turn their attention to the San Antonio Spurs after a tough loss at home. The Mavericks need to find answers for their shooting slump before the Spurs game, or their early season hopes could fade fast.
The final score of 115-100 shows a game that was close at the half but saw the Kings pull away with a strong second half. This result leaves Dallas with a 4-3 record and a need to fix their offensive flow without Irving. The Kings, now 1-6, have a much better chance to climb the standings after securing this crucial win.
