CLEVELAND — Darius Garland was one of the through lines for the Cavaliers transforming from a rebuilding team into a playoff contender in the Eastern Conference , but his time in Cleveland is now finished.
The two-time All-Star guard was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers , along with a 2026 second-round pick, in exchange for James Harden , a future Hall of Famer who now teams up with Donovan Mitchell to form arguably the most dynamic scoring backcourt in the league.
As Garland prepares for a new chapter of his career with the Clippers, he delivered a message to Cleveland on the way out.
"I'll never forget the night I was drafted to Cleveland back in 2019 and everything I've gained since," Garland posted on X, formerly Twitter. "This city taught me more than I could've imagined. To the coaches, staff, front office, the Gilbert family, my teammates and the fans — thank you for the love and support.
"Cleveland will always be a second home, and I'll carry these memories with me forever."
Garland signed the note, "Always love, 10."
