Date, time, and channel announced for Texas A&M vs. Miami in the CFP
It's official. Texas A&M received the No. 7 ranking in the final College Football Playoff rankings on Sunday afternoon and will now host No. 10 Miami (FL) (10-2) in the first round, which will take place on Saturday, December 20. While many expected this to be a night game in Kyle Field, the Aggies will reportedly take on the Hurricanes during an early afternoon matchup.
How did Texas A&M get to this point? It's simple . Finishing 11-1 and 7-1 in SEC play apparently wasn't impressive enough to take over the No. 6 spot, even though the Aggies possess a higher-ranked strength of schedule and strength of record than Ole Miss, as the Rebels will host No. 11 Tulane. None of this matters now, knowing that head coach Mike Elko and his veteran team are focused on defeating a talented Miami team.
However, it isn't very clear why Texas A&M vs. Miami is a noon game instead of a night game, instead giving No. 5 Oregon vs. No. 12 James Madison the night game, which is expected to be a one-sided contest, on paper at least. Still, it's important to note that the Aggies are undefeated under head coach Mike Elko at 11:00 a.m. kickoffs, so there's a small dose of positivity heading into the next two weeks.
The game will air on ABC. If Texas A&M defeats Miami, the Aggies will head to the quarterfinal round and take on No. 2 Ohio State in Arlington, Texas, set for 6:30 p.m. CT.
