Dave Roberts could only joke about Dodgers’ snowy record set at Coors Field appeared first on ClutchPoints . Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here .
It was a bitter cold game on Friday, between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Colorado Rockies in Denver. There was snow on the ground as the two clubs met at Coors Field. It was just 35 degrees during the first pitch which made it the coldest temperature for a first pitch in Dodgers history.
After the game, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts could only joke about it.
“It was a dry cold,” Roberts said with a laugh, per The Associated Press.
Dodgers players made the most of it. Even though the snow stopped a few hours before the game, Los Angeles had to push through the ice-cold temperatures. Los Angeles would defeat Colorado, 7-1.
“There was still ice on the field, and it was only getting colder, but you can’t complain about it,” L.A. slugger Max Muncy said. “You’ve got to go out there, and they have to play through it also.”
The temperature changes must have been jarring to the Dodgers, even though it didn’t show in the final score. Los Angeles was coming off playing a home stand in 70-degree temperatures.
“We were told right from the start the game was going to start on time,” Muncy said. “When you know you have to go out there and play, obviously the weather sucks, but if there’s no question of you may not play or may get delayed or you may play a doubleheader, when there’s no question of that, it’s easier to just kind of block out the noise, go out there and get ready. Today was thankfully one of those days.”
The weather is scheduled to be warmer when the Dodgers and Rockies meet again on Saturday. Following the win, the Dodgers are now 15-4 on the season .
