Hischier helped get the hosts on the board in the first period, dishing the primary assist on the opening goal scored by Denis Malgin.
Roman Josi picked up the secondary assist on the play. Switzerland carried that momentum and outshot Germany 10-7 through the opening 20 minutes.
The second period belonged to the Swiss power play. Meier helped set up Sven Andrighetto's goal to double the Swiss lead to 2-0. Switzerland kept the pressure high, limiting Germany to just 4 shots in the middle frame while Leonardo Genoni turned aside everything he faced.
In the closing minutes of the second period, Meier drove the puck toward the Germany goal line and fed Hischier streaking in the slot for a one-time chance, giving the Swiss a 4-0 lead on the power play.
Josi and Andrighetto added two more goals after Hischier to cap a 6-1 victory over Germany.
