After three years at Ohio State , Devin Royal is entering the transfer portal for his final season, a source has told The Dispatch.
A 6-foot-6, 230-pound forward who moved to the wing for the 2025-26 season, Royal has played in 96 games including 59 starts while averaging 10.6 points and 4.9 rebounds. A role player as a freshman, Royal has moved into the starting lineup averaged 13.7 points per game in each of the last two seasons.

He has one year of eligibility remaining. Royal is the first Ohio State player known to be entering the portal, which officially opens April 7.

As a junior, Royal moved from power forward to small forward, where coach Jake Diebler utilized his bigger frame on the wing. It led to Royal's best 3-point shooting season of his career but the lowest two-point shooting percentage, too. Royal went 31 for 98 (31.6%) from deep after going 16 for 58 (27.6%) as a sophomore and finished third on the team in scoring average.
After averaging a team-high 6.9 rebounds as a sophomore, Royal led the Buckeyes again as a junior at 5.7 per game.

A Pickerington Central product, Royal was Ohio Mr. Basketball in 2023 and helped lead the Tigers to a state title in 2022 and a runner-up finish as a senior . He was a four-star prospect in the 247Sports.com rankings, which listed him as the No. 49 national prospect.
It is unclear how many players the Buckeyes will lose to the transfer portal during the offseason.
