The Arizona Diamondbacks are still hot, thanks in large part to the clutch genes of star outfielder Corbin Carroll .
The Diamondbacks walked off the Colorado Rockies in a series opener at Chase Field in Arizona on Thursday, with Carroll saving the day for Arizona with a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning that broke a 1-1 tie and handed his team the 2-1 victory.
With two outs and two men on base, Carroll stepped on the plate to face Rockies reliever and right-hander Juan Mejia. Carroll got ahead early with back-to-back balls to start his at-bat before drawing two strikes in a row.
On Mejia’s first pitch, an 85 mph sweeper, Carroll made good contact with the ball, as Gabriel Moreno hurried to home plate to score the game-winning and game-ending run.
Diamondbacks supporters and baseball fans in general are loving that clutch hit by Carroll and the ending of the contest.
