The Texas Tech women's basketball team had a lighter week than usual, but that still resulted in a climb in some national rankings.
The Lady Raiders (22-3, 9-3), who beat Houston 85-61 on Saturday in their lone game of the week, remained No. 18 in the USA TODAY coaches poll released Tuesday. For the first time this season, Baylor is the top-ranked team in the Big 12. The Bears are No. 11, a four-spot rise, after TCU dropped two places to No. 14. No. 20 West Virginia maintained its position, while Iowa State returned to the poll at No. 25.
Tech moved up two spots to No. 16 in the Associated Press poll, its highest ranking of the season. That put the Lady Raiders just ahead of TCU, which lost 80-79 at Colorado on Sunday.
No. 12 Baylor and No. 19 WVU also represent the Big 12 in the AP poll.
Tech returns to action Tuesday at home against Kansas (15-10, 5-8).
