Travis Hunter's decision to follow Deion Sanders to Jackson State, then to Colorado, remains one of Coach Prime's most memorable recruiting stories. Hunter recently revealed how Sanders convinced him to reconsider his commitment to Florida State.
Hunter was a top recruit in the nation
and committed to Florida State in March 2020 before flipping to Jackson State on Dec. 15, 2021. The chance to play both wide receiver and cornerback was central to his vision for his college career. Sanders' willingness to give him that opportunity ultimately persuaded him to sign with Jackson State.

During a conversation with Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase on the "Chasing No 1 Show", Hunter opened up about his recruitment and the conversations that ultimately changed his plans.
"I didn't care about the money and how could they get me there, what they could do for me when I get there. I wanted to know if I could play both sides of the ball. That's the only question I had for him," Hunter said.
When Chase asked Hunter what convinced him to flip, the former Heisman winner said:
"He [sanders] said, 'You want to play both sides of the ball? I'm definitely the coach that's going to [let you], I've done it before, but you're going to have to earn it. you might have to play one side of the ball, master that, then you'll get time on the other side."
Later, Hunter joined Sanders at Colorado after the coach left Jackson State.
Deion Sanders Reveals Key to Colorado Beating Kansas State in Week 9
While Hunter's recruitment remains a significant part of Sanders' Colorado story, the Buffaloes coach now faces an immediate challenge as his team prepares to host Kansas State.

Colorado enters the Week 9 matchup at 2-5 after five straight losses. The Buffaloes suffered a 57-24 defeat
to Oklahoma State last weekend.
When asked what Colorado needs to do to beat Kansas State, Sanders offered a straightforward response.
"Be consistent," he said in his press conference.
The coach also expressed frustration with the team's penalties, pointing to execution and preparation as areas that need improvement.
"That's the only thing we're consistent in is getting penalties. And that doesn't make sense to me, but we've got to do better. Got to prepare much better," Sanders added.

Sanders will hope his players can translate that message into a stronger performance against the Wildcats. Kansas State enters Saturday's matchup at Folsom Field at 4-3 after losing to Arizona State.
