Connor Hellebuyck talks after the game:
Poor Jack:
"The last time Jack Hughes played in front of Connor Hellebuyck, back in February at the Winter Olympics, he had his teeth knocked out by a high stick, returned to score a goal and helped his team win. Eight months later, in Hellebuyck's debut for the New Jersey Devils, Hughes repeated the feat. Unfortunately for him, every last bit of it." [ The Athletic ($)]
"It's early, but the team looks different than the past couple of seasons. They're controlling play at five-on-five and outshooting their opponents by significant margins. It's not just the Devils' top players who are excelling, either. Their depth is contributing plenty. With that, let's look at 10 stats that have stood out from the Devils' start to the season." "Larkin, who has a full no-trade clause, has opened up the list of teams for which he would waive it to include 10 destinations: the Devils, Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Vegas Golden Knights, Minnesota Wild, Dallas Stars, Carolina Hurricanes, Washington Capitals, Utah Mammoth and Colorado Avalanche. And on its face, that's a decent number of teams. The issue for the Red Wings: Which of those teams are in a position to make a deal for Larkin? And of those who can, how motivated are they to do so?" [ The Athletic ($)]
