The Los Angeles Dodgers already have a future Hall of Famer at shortstop.
But that hasn't stopped the NL West club from making a move for another star.
After getting swept in the NLCS, the Dodgers should be one of the more aggressive teams this offseason, as usual. They should be top contenders in the Tarik Skubal sweepstakes.
If Betts is willing to move to second base or back to the outfield, a recent trade idea from Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer would make sense.
"The Dodgers have lots of trade capital, though, and the 25-year-old [Zach] Neto is an ideal candidate to make their offense younger and more athletic. He could either bump Mookie Betts off shortstop or line up alongside him at third base," Rymer wrote.
Neto has three consecutive 20-20 seasons with the Angels, hitting 27 home runs with 24 stolen bases in a 5.2 bWAR season in 2026.
In Rymer's trade idea, the Dodgers would acquire Neto in exchange for left-hander Justin Wrobleski, right-hander Roki Sasaki, and catcher Daulton Rushing.
It's a deal that could be hard for the Angels to decline, considering that the team needs MLB-ready players as soon as possible.

"Wrobleski has already been an All-Star, while Rushing and Sasaki have teased that kind of upside. All three are in their 20s and controlled through at least 2030," Rymer added.
The Dodgers don't need Neto, but this trade is the kind of trade they could make just because they can.
Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman might be convinced to throw a lower-end prospect in the deal to land someone like Neto.
