With the Los Angeles Dodgers lineup looking different as the team continues to be without Mookie Betts and pitcher Blake Snell , fans have been waiting to hear any updates regarding their return. As the Dodgers pitcher in Snell is dealing with a shoulder injury and Betts is suffering from an oblique issue, the two would get crucial updates.
Ahead of Los Angeles taking on the Chicago Cubs on Saturday, Katie Woo of The Athletic would report that Betts is “slowly progressing towards a rehab assignment,” taking batting practice, while Snell is set for his second rehab start.
“Dodgers injury updates: Mookie Betts (oblique) is taking coach BP in the batting cages. Slowly progressing towards a rehab assignment. Blake Snell (shoulder) is slated for 3 innings in his second rehab start, early next week likely w/ Ontatio,” Woo wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Snell is coming off his first rehab start, throwing 32 pitches, with the goal being that he can get to five innings before coming back to the team.
“Blake Snell came out well from his first rehab start, he said. Threw one-plus innings, 32 total pitches. Goal is to get him to five innings/75 pitches before he’s active. He’ll make another start sometime next week,” Woo wrote Thursday on X.
Dodgers’ Dave Roberts is “really encouraged” by Mookie Betts’ progress
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts would speak about Betts, who hasn’t played in a game since April 4, expressing how he’s “really encouraged” by the progress made during his recovery from an oblique injury.
“My assumption is he’ll go out on a rehab assignment and take a couple games to get some at-bats, get his legs back. He’s getting closer. Is it next weekend that he goes out? Is it a week from Monday? I don’t know. But I know that each day it’s gotten a lot better. So we’re really encouraged,” Roberts said, according to Dodger Blue.
It remains to be seen when Betts and Snell return for Los Angeles, as the team has lost in five of the last seven games, ahead of Saturday and Sunday’s game against the Cubs.
