The Los Angeles Dodgers know that this is the time of the season when it's time to lock in before the playoffs, and they have the right players on the team who lead by example. Mookie Betts is one of those players, and he's gotten started already, with his stats taking a rise over the past few weeks.
Betts was asked what's helped him get into this mode, and he credits some of the changes he's made on and off the field.
"It's kind of tweaking and making some changes, but I'm really proud of myself for continuing to keep going," Betts said. "Anybody really could easily just kind of cash it in and say it is what it is, but I'm really proud of myself for just keeping going, keeping trying to figure things out, keeping my mindset of helping the boys. We've gotten some hits to fall here recently, but it's not really about the hits as much as just about the mindset of just putting your head down and keeping going, and the rest will be whatever."

Last year when Betts was in a slump , he didn't fight through it. This time around, he gave himself the space to keep fighting and had the support of his teammates to get him out of the slump.
"Last year, I chose to be down on myself instead of choosing to fight through and just try to create a new perspective. And so going through it this year, I feel like I made a good decision in changing my perspective on it. The guys really just kind of stayed in my corner," Betts said.
The Dodgers know they're at their best when Betts is, and the hope is that he can keep his strong play going into the postseason.
