The Los Angeles Dodgers have bullpen dilemmas to address and not limited to Roki Sasaki’s slow start . Reliever Ben Casparius is dealing with a notable MLB Injury early in 2026.
Now LA and manager Dave Roberts decided to place him on the injured list Monday. But also recalled another pitcher .
“The Dodgers recalled RHP Kyle Hurt and placed RHP Ben Casparius on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation,” the team announced via the social media website X, formerly Twitter.
The right-hander Casparius has seen limited action on the mound this season. LA has turned to him in four games so far, but has delivered zero saves.
Casparius has pitched in 4.2 total innings. Opposing hitters have chipped six total hits facing him while scoring five runs. The 6-foot-2 thrower has struck out four batters while surrendering one home run against the Washington Nationals on April 4.
Casparius threw heat against the Texas Rangers Sunday during the 5-2 Dodgers loss. He allowed two hits, two runs plus endured two errors.
The veteran pitcher and multiple World Series winner will sit for 15 days by landing on IL. Hence the elevation for Hurt.
He gets the call up from the Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate Oklahoma City. Hurt threw in six games while surrendering three runs through 4.2 innings.
But he joined the Dodgers during Cactus League play ahead of the ’26 season. Hurt fanned 12 batters through more than seven innings total on the hill and delivered a 3.68 ERA (earned run average).
LA owns a league-best 11-4 mark. But pitching has seen early flaws, including newcomer Edwin Diaz experiencing a velocity dip . The Dodgers return to Chavez Ravine against the New York Mets Monday night at 7:10 p.m. PT.
