On Friday, the Los Angeles Dodgers provided an injury update on Shohei Ohtani . Ohtani is dealing with irritation in his left knee, and the superstar will not make his scheduled start on Friday against the Arizona Diamondbacks . Additionally, as Ohtani continues to deal with the knee concern, he will not participate in the MLB All-Star Game, the team announced.
" Shohei Ohtani will not make his scheduled start on the mound this evening against the D-backs due to continued irritation in his left knee. He will serve as the designated hitter the rest of the weekend, but following the series against the D-backs he will have some interventions on his knee to put him in the best position for the second half of the season. Unfortunately, due to these events, he will not be able to travel to Philadelphia and participate in the 2026 All-Star Game," the Dodgers announced.
Ohtani was already not expected to pitch in the game . Additionally, he was not expected to participate in the Home Run Derby. He was going to be the designated hitter for the National League All-Star team, though. However, he will now focus on recovering from the injury during the All-Star break.
It is an understandable decision. Of course, fans will not like the news, as the MLB world would love to see Ohtani in the game. Ohtani is once again having a tremendous season . The Dodgers are understandably proceeding with caution, though.
Updates on Shohei Ohtani's injury status will continue to be monitored and provided as they are made available.
