Rejoice, college football fans! We've reached the first Saturday of the 2026 season that's stuffed to the brim with games. AndFlorida Statealready has a win under its belt before its Week 1 game.
FSU was tested more than many expected in its season opener last week against New Mexico State, butthe run game dominatedin a34-17 winin front of thousands of screaming fans at Doak Campbell Stadium. Three Seminoles ran for touchdowns, including newquarterback Ashton Daniels, while sophomore Ousmane Kromah led the way with 114 yards and his first collegiate rushing TD.

Things only get harder from here, though, starting by welcomingNo. 20 SMUthis week for theACC opener. The two last played in FSU's horrid 2024 season, when the Mustangs shellacked the Seminoles 42-16. Quarterback Kevin Jennings threw for 254 yards and three touchdowns in that game, and he's hoping another win will springboard SMU back into the College Football Playoff.

No, but the Seminoles do still play in Week 1. FSU has the Monday night spotlight against SMU in prime time, the second time in three years they'll play on Labor Day.

FSU has two bye weeks this season. The first comes after the SMU game, meaning they'll be off Sept. 12 for Week 2 and return for a big matchup at No. 13 Alabama on Sept. 19. FSU then comes home for two games againstCentral Arkansasand Virginia before two more tough road games vs. No. 24 Louisville and their archrivals,No. 7 Miami, lead into their final off week Oct. 24, in Week 8.

Florida State vs. SMU kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Monday. The game will broadcast nationally on ESPN in Week 1 of the 2026 college football season. Dave Pasch and Dusty Dvoracek will call the game from the booth at Doak Campbell Stadium, with Taylor McGregor reporting from the sidelines.
