The Miami Dolphins lost running back De'Von Achane to a torn ACL in their Week 3 matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, leaving them with just Ollie Gordon II and Jaylen Wright as the lone backs in the room.
Miami signed Carlos Washington Jr. from their own practice squad on Saturday to add some depth for game day, but now, after their matchup with the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, they've released the 27-year-old.
Washington joined the Dolphins after three years with the Atlanta Falcons. During his time with the Falcons, he played 21 total snaps, only on special teams, in two games. He didn't play a single snap for Miami on Sunday.
Gordon ran for 100 yards on Sunday, while Wright was much less efficient with his carries. However, the Dolphins still felt comfortable giving the ball to Malik Washington as a running back as well in some situations, which is probably why Miami is willing to move on from Washington.
There's also a strong chance that they bring him back on the practice squad soon.
