The Miami Dolphins are adding offensive line insurance as they wait to see whether rookie Kadyn Proctor can clear concussion protocol.
Miami made a late Wednesday move, claiming guard Christian Haynes off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks and waiving guard DJ Campbell, the team announced.
Haynes appeared in 31 games over three seasons with Seattle (2024-26), making five starts at right guard. He also appeared in two playoff games and was part of the Seahawks' Super Bowl LX-winning team after they defeated the New England Patriots.
Haynes was added to give the Dolphins more depth after Proctor landed on concussion protocol
Seattle selected Haynes in the third round (81st overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft out of UConn. He played in 37 games and made 35 starts for the Huskies, earning All-American honors in both 2022 and 2023.
The Dolphins selected Campbell in the sixth round (200th overall) of the 2026 NFL Draft, but he has not appeared in a game this season.
Campbell spent four seasons at Texas (2022-25), appearing in 50 games and making 43 starts at right guard. He earned third-team All-SEC honors as a senior in 2025 and helped the Longhorns reach the College Football Playoff.
Miami's latest move comes after Proctor entered concussion protocol earlier this week, days after the Dolphins' 28-25 victory over the New York Jets. The rookie left guard spoke to the media following Sunday's game, but coach Jeff Hafley confirmed his status Wednesday.
Proctor must clear all five stages of the NFL's concussion protocol before returning to the field.
With a Week 8 matchup against the New England Patriots looming, the Dolphins are taking precautions along an offensive line that could be without its rookie starter. Haynes provides another option at guard as Miami prepares for a crucial AFC East showdown.
If Proctor can't go, the Dolphins now have another body in the trenches. And with the Patriots up next, Miami can't afford to leave its offensive line short-handed.
